Summer Sun Breaks

Posted on 25 Mar 2024 in Sun Breaks

The clocks are about to change, the rush for Easter eggs has begun and the days are a longer and brighter. This can only mean one thing, we’re well and truly into Spring. Getting through January and February can be a tough slog, with the workdays slow and the dark evenings often slower. Thankfully as we come out the other side and welcome the (slight) improvements in weather it’s the perfect time to think of an escape for many. Exploring Ireland is a lot easier outside of Winter as searches for family hotels and family things to do increases. Last month we provided some great examples of family destinations to help to keep everyone occupied during Easter with a focus on hotels with nearby activities. Read more here.

Although SuperValu Getaway Breaks’ huge selection of great value Irish hotel deals is a guarantee, unfortunately the Irish weather isn’t, and for many, now is the time to start planning a sun getaway. Luckily SuperValu Getaway Breaks also has a range of hotels across some of Europe’s most loved sun destinations, you can now find hotels in Mallorca, Menorca, Lanzarote, Malaga, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and recently added Ibiza!

With flights from Dublin and Cork serving these areas it has never been easier or more cost effective to build your own sun holiday getaway.

Lanzarote

The Lanzarote landscape can look like a scene from a sci-fi with it’s rich red and black earth and rocky terrain, but when you reach the coast it really comes alive with golden sand beaches and clear blue waters. With towns like Puerto Del Carmen and Costa Teguise popular with those looking for a slighty livelier stay and island capital Arrecife offering a great mix of culture with a city feel, Playa Blanca is often the destination of choice for those looking to really relax. This area offers great beaches, bar and a mix of high-quality restaurants but just at a slightly slower pace than other parts of the island.

Suggested Getaway.

  • Return: June 24th
  • Fly: Ryanair from Dublin (€475 for 2ppl)

Ibiza Hotel Breaks

For many the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the mention of Ibiza is partying, however this famous island can be many things to many different people. If it’s the nightlife you’re after and perhaps not overly familiar with the island Ibiza town, Playa d’en Bossa and San Antonio are generally considered the key destinations to enjoy yourself. The good news is there are also plenty of adults only hotels available to book in Ibiza.

If you’re looking for something on the quieter side than Cala Vadella on the west coast, San Jose which is more central or Santa Eulalia on the east could be just the areas to really relax with some sun and sangria.

The island is awash with breathtaking beaches that many argue are unmatched (check out Cala d’Hort is staying in Cala Vadella) and there are plenty of markets, water activities as well as Ibiza Museum of Contemporary Art to keep you busy.
